Hello, I went out yesterday to two of my favorite spots that keep producing. Everything but the coin and the holed item came from site one. Then I packed up and went to another place I'd hunted and hunted several times before. I guess its true what they say that a site is rarely ever hunted out. The field was flooded from the melting snow and I sloshed through the water and muck chasing signals wondering if I was taking it too far and then the coin popped out! ok Hope everyone has a good year!

Here are the identifications.
Top row:
Two brass 1-piece buttons from about 1810 to the 1840s.
No size-measurement given for the lead ball, but comparing it to the known diameter of the US Large-Cent, it seems to be a .36-caliber pistol ball, from the early-to-mid-1800s. If it is any smaller than that, it is most likely a buckshot ball, which cannot be accurately time-dated.
Bottom row:
Object at left is a brass joint from a fold-up wooden ruler. Could date anytime from the 1800s to the present.
The hollow brass ball-shaped object seems to be a Crotal Bell, from horse-harness. (Also known as a "jingle-bell.") Because yours appears to be made of thin sheetbrass, it is most probably from the latter-1800s through the early 1900s.

Thanks for the ID, it means alot! I thought the buttons were pretty old. I did'nt see any backmarks on them. As far as the foldup ruler joint I never would've figured that one out. I was thinking crotal bell on the holed piece. Could'nt get a jingle out of it thou, Thanks again!

Nice work .......still 2 feet of snow in woods where I am!

nice finds,I bet after you found that penny you turned into swampthing sloshing through the muck and mud:walk:
