1845 counterfeit half dollar

Detecting this morning in northern Illinois farm field. Dug a 39 40 signal on the legend. Thought I had a token. After a little tooth picking on it at home I could see the eagle and the date. I've never dug a counterfeit in 50 years of detecting.

Not for sure. I do find lead and pewter when the Legend reads lower 40s

Very cool finds ,I found 1, counterfeit and it was a pewter cap bust .50 cent piece a few years ago.

Would something like that be worth anything (IDK)?
A modern counterfeit wouldn't, but one contemporaneous?
I'm thinking the counterfeits are rarer than genuine, but that may not enter into it.

I have the same Army-Navy token, but mine wasn't dug. I love CW tokens--#1 on my MD bucket list! 😍
