This is the first time I have had a machine in my hands in a long time.
Just trying to get them ready to use again.

I had the Explorer out in my yard for about 20 minutes and dug 6 Zink Lids and 1 1848 Large Cent, all were deep targets.

Just a little foot note for some of you beginners. I have hit this yard Hard for Many Years starting with a XLT and then the Sovereign XS-2 Pro then the Explorer XS. So Truly, you can Never hunt a place out! :laughing7:

Welcome back to the obsession. Congrats on the LC

Thank you, that is only the third LC that I have found, all of them are in bad shape but it did the trick, I am Hooked again. My desk is full of chargers and battery packs again.

Those LC's are hard to come by, at least in my area. Only found a few. In any shape, nice find.

Know what you mean by not hunted out. I hit an area of an old farm house pretty hard, I am talking pretty small area. Came back the next year and found a clad 50 cent piece, still amazed by that.

Sweet! WTG!!!!!

mcmich, you are right they are hard to find. That is the third one for me so that would make it about 1 every 5 years or so. Not good odds of finding them.
There are so many things that can have an effect on metal detecting that you just never know for sure what you will be able to find on any given day. This yard is about an acre, maybe a little more and the house was built in about 1870. I am sure there is places in this yard that I have never touched yet even after all of these years.

Thank you mcmich and Mike, it is good to be back out a little bit.

Heck of a restart!
Congrats, and I've yet to score a holed coin.... makes them neat to see posted up, and more personal to the last owner.

It was a good restart, now if I can just keep the luck going I will be happy. I think that is the first holed coin I have ever found.
Good to see you are still at it releventchair, maybe I can catch up to you this summer again.

You still hunt in the fremont area? I work at gerber and read some of your older posts.

Congrats on the find. You found a coin in a series of U S Large Cents I fell in love with, and collected avidly. Too bad copper doesn't survive the soil well, but at least you have a start to your own collection. Caley

Thank you Deerhunter24

desertgolddigger, Thank you, I was very happy to find it, maybe someday I will find one that is in good shape

Sturrat, I have not hunted in Fremont in a while now but I am sure I will be there again this year. It is only 7 miles up the road from here.

Suits me just fine.
I'm lousy at old map research but there is a former pic nic grounds might lead to a goose chase eventually.
We did not hit that lake yard/water either.
I could try for permission again if enough notice was given.

I hit the park on the lake for a quick hunt and found a war of 1812 artilary button.

Are you talking about the ones on the other side of the lake? I know where that is but have never hunted the land, just the water.

Sturrat, That park has a Long History and it would be very possible that there could have been a few of the members of the GAR Group that could have had some uniforms for that war also. Very good find. The fact that you found that in that park just helps that you can Not truly hunt out an area. Time changes every thing.

Congrats on the Large Cent. Even more awesome that you scored it in your own yard!! Nice

I am surprised that I got it out of this yard also, the yard is very big and it is trashed. There were 3 houses here over the years so it is here just have to get through the junk first.

Very nice, still looking for my 1st Canadian LC.
