This was found at an 1849 homesite that was used as a hospital after a CW battle in Hernando Ms. It is .198" thick and seems to be made of brass or copper as it has turned green. It has been hit numerous times by the plough from looking at the scratch lines across both sides. It has a rough edge behind the single point facing upward where it looks like it broke from another piece. Nothing similar has been found that might be the other piece. HH Joe

Because of the straight lines formed in it, could it be shrapnel?
Cheers

I think it is a piece of a piece, but it is an old piece, and the shape of it is odd. Familiar but not... The lines mentioned are from a plough blade striking it repeatedly over the last who knows how many years, one of the lines is a lot fresher than the others, with bare metal showing. I figured this one was going to go down as the "unknown but dang cool" whatsit.... HH Joe
