Hi All,

Two weeks ago my 14 year old Explorer XS decided it had enough and rolled over and died. Funds were not in the budget to get a new detector, but if I didn't get one I would be like a turtle with out a shell. Anyways been talking to Herbie through emails and he suggested maybe the T2se as a possibility. I had heard these are great detectors and go deep. So after being a Minelab guy for the last 16 or 17 years, still have the original sovereign they made that first came to the states, I decided to go with the T2se. So I decided to give Bart a call at BigBoysHobbies and glad I did. Bart is a great guy, gave me a great deal on the T2se ( I just wanted the detector nothing else) and it was at my door when he said it would be. Thanks Bart for the great service. Anyways theses finds are from last weekends 3 hour hunt and todays 4 hour hunt. I got the two silvers last weekend and both were fairly deep. The mercury was 8 inches deep with a nice repeatable signal and I had been over this spot many times with my Explorer too. Also got the button with the little silver on it and the round ball last weekend. Today I dug the rest up at an old foundation. The pretzel is a shoe buckle frame that was about 6 inches deep not far off the foundation amongst a good amount of iron. The chape was about 15 feet from the pretzel and that was about 7 inches down and I had too bust a rock to get to it. The little button I dug up early in the hunt, it looked like it had something on it, but not sure. The 1849 Large cent was about 5 inches down and as you can see cleaned up real nicely. If anyone know the variety of it let me know, there is a lot for the 1849's. I almost forgot last week was with the 11 inch coil and this week was with the 5 inch coil. Over all I think the T2 and me are going to become best buddies. Oh and thanks Herbie for pointing me in a great direction :occasion14:.

Yeah.. those later year large cents definitely hold up well in the ground. Very nice finds. In the 1970s my grandfather started giving me coins... it's how I started to become interested in coin collecting. The first (and only) large cent he ever gave me was an 1849. Seeing your large cent kind of took me back for a second. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks a lot I used the hot peroxide method to clean it. I forgot to post before pictures of it but it was really dirty.

Yeah I am thinking the same thing, it will be scary when I get use to it, thanks for the good words.

Bubba - that's a bunch of nice finds that span a lengthy time period. Maybe there's a piece of spanish silver waiting for you at this site. Good luck!
