1850's CONNECTICUT MILITIA BUTTON plus a new member of the tribe

back to an old site in colonial Kingston NY with FMERG. 1/2 into the hunt Frank gets his 1st ever 1857 SEATED QUARTER in GOOD condition, sorry no pic since he would release it from his cold live hand. 5 minutes later I snag the '95 IH at 1 inch down. Frank walks into the sunset but I keep on diggin'. mostly walking and no digging. 2 hours of finding squat the ace250 screams out "I THINK I FOUND A PENNY". 3 inches down is one bada*s button. RELICMAN web site shows it as 1850-1860 Conn. militia. if anyone can give me an estimate of value, please reply. headed back there today, the caretaker is not concerned with our hunting IMG_0058.webpIMG_0059.webpIMG_0060.webpIMG_0061.webpsize on button is 7/8" or 23.3 MM. 2 baths in boiling peroxide for the IH and button

nice finds. congrats on the button. I would put the range value of between $50-100 for that button. just depends on how many people want it on that particular day. Civil War relics as a whole are a little depressed at the moment; especially buttons so if it was on an auction site it may be closer to the $50. generally non-dug ones retail between $80-$100. Dug ones seem scarcer and some collectors prefer the dug variety. yours looks 'pretty' so it could be closer to the $100 on a good day.

But regardless it is a nice historical find and in good condition with the shank to boot. it would make my month to find it. congratulations.

really cool, nice job with the IH
