I Recently acquired a 1852 Seated dime for a good price. I believe this dime has a clipped planchet, I took a few pics but it was hard to get a close up of the clipped part. I did the best I could hopefully the pics are good enough, if not I can try to take better shots.

Anyways I was wondering if you guys agree it's a clipped planchet, and what would it add for a premium to the coin. :icon_scratch:

Thanks,
Sobo

The clip looks to acute to me to be from the mint.

I agree 100%! It is possible the clip occurred accidentally but more likely that it is man-made and was done intentionally.

+1 the radius on the chip is wrong for it to have happened during the stamping process...

Ahh, OK thanks guys.

A little more info, I just noticed the reeded edge is smooth around the clipped part on both sides. And it looks very flush how the rim goes into the clipped part. I dunno if these details are important, but I'd thought I'd add it. If you guys wants more pictures let me know.

Thanks

The clip has to be missing 10% to 25% of the metal. The front and the back seem to be in nice shape. I'd say fine shape, with a value of about $30.
