Hi all, well went detecting after work Friday and found a site not hunted
before. Lucky for me that the farmer had just worked the field and was getting
ready to plant oats. I had a pretty good 2 1/2 hrs hunting.

The 3 cent piece is dated 1856, couldn't get a real good picture of the
date side. Of course the Indian head pennies come out looking green
in a worked field. On the large cent I couldn't read the date.
The token is a Walter A Wood Havesting Machine. I don't know what the
Warented Superior thing a ma jig is, kinda neat though. The arrow head is
always a good find. I know you can't detect arrowheads, but watch the ground,
you too may come up with one. I also found a clay marble. LOL, always looking at
the ground, you never know what you will see and pick up.

Excellent finds and congrats on the silver! HH, Mike

Those are some very nice finds. What is the one with the dog on it? Those Indians are also great to find! Looks like you got a harvest out of that field!!

I forgot to mention on the original post that the 3 cent piece was found
by my hunting partner. Sorry about the confusion. We were hunting
with our ACE 250's and SunRay Probe.

I'm not sure what the dog thing is. I think it might be off of a pair
of coveralls, worn back in the early days.

Wow, nice finds! Just curious, any idea how long the field has been in use, and what the history of the field is? The dates on the coins suggest that it's a long time.

Super!
Those 3 cent silver coins are not easily picked up.
They are also usually bent. Yours looks to be in pretty good shape.

Nice finds you guys got. That 3 center is in really nice shape. I found one last year. It was bent just like BK said they get. It was a 1851 about 5 inches deep and rang a mid 40's vdi on the dfx.

Hey,

You just stomped my 1865 2 cent piece back into the ground with those finds. That is real good thats a haul most of us dream of. Some of our top hunters can do that with clad but not IH (maybe one of our sidewalk hunters you should all know who) and That 3 cent silver, WOW!!. WTG you should get some kind of reward for best finds of the month or something. You should submit to the contest, I don't know how but someone will.

Keep @ it and HH!!

W :o W.......W :o W.....W :o W!!

Nice finds, RF. You must have a good eye to also find the arrowhead and the marble. ;)

Well, from my records, I have a Ring Back book I made with 5 local counties in it and
all the townships in each county, all from the 1860's. I copied all the maps at local
libraries and museums. The township map from this area has a school house at this
site. Although the map is from the 1860's, I found out from the farmer who owns the
property that the site once held a wooden school house, which they moved down the
road and then built the 1860's brick school.

My partner and I hunted the old wooden school site today, but didn't find much as
the property is occupied by two houses and a lot of trash. We did find 3 wheaties there
and then gave up for another site. At the next site we only found 4 wheaties in less than
an hour and then got rained out.

Thanks for everyones replies and don't forget to research, research, research. I know that
I have posted alot of finds this year, but the finds have come from sites that I have researched.
They are sites that I have hunted time and time again, and everytime the fields are turned over
new items come up.

That is a heck of a harvest.....go back and check if the farmer has planted his crops...if not mabe you can get in another day!!!!
Nice job!!

Well guys, as I posted we did go back to the field today, but the farmer planted oats
in the field last night and it rained really hard today. So I guess we will have to wait,
till he takes the crops off. I don't like to hunt in a field that has been planted, bad
PR. The farmer did show us a Sword that his father found in a field close to the
school house site. He sort of found it the hard way, it wound up in one of his tractor
tires. I'm sending along a picture of it. The writing on the sword said Made In India and
had some other writing but couldn't make it out. Wonder how old it is? Yes we hope to
hunt the site where he found the sword, but probably not till later.

Cap, there isn't any markings on the back of the button. Sorry, I wish there was.
Man you are really great on button's, wish I could meet with you sometime and you could
look at all the buttons i've found. I have a lot of buttons i've found at a War of 1812 site.

Thanks again for the info on the button and the sword. You wouldn't know how old the sword is
would you?

I believe you're token find is a watch fob. Might want to check that out further.
