after taking my nickel dump-- it's on to my LCS. he gives me this to sell at halfsies after my fees. his error clientele is small so I'll gladly take half of what it sells for. opinions welcome, I think maybe a defective planchet from a flaw after rolling or lamination. not looking like PMD IMG_4143.webpIMG_4144.webpIMG_4145.webp :dontknow:???:dontknow: weighs 3.9 grams, there is a noticeable reduction in rim thickness at the affected area and the reverse is normal and uniform in wear, so crush force would be ruled out.

Sorry I can't help with what it is, besides it being a cool coin for your collection.

Does appear to be a error. I don't think it's a delamination, too thick of an area. Just go with defective planchette.

AGREE. best guess was a void in the sheet or clump o' junk stuck to die. not bad for a semi key date fatty 8-)
