That 1868 Ih coin, is a little pricey in the red book. I would leave it alone in my opinion. See what the other TH's think.

I would do as the others has said,LEAVE IT ALONE
That is a sweet looking Injun,Congrats

The '68 penny is a decent one, but I think you are stuck with the corrosion spots. The detail is great otherwise.

I noticed you also found a spoon and a wheaty.

Are you by any chance hunting in an old hobo camp?

You wouldn't happen to need a detecting buddy now would you. I am in Natchez, Ms. Looks like you have a nice place to dig there. Keep hitting it. That is the type of building I need down here.

Nice finds AND nice lookin place to hunt postalgriff -

there's a "copper solution" that coin shops sell for around $5 that will help take the corrosion off of that penny + any copper/s you may find in the future. As for that specific IH - you'll be left with "pitting" due to the large/r corrosion spots but it will certainly make it look nicer, and stop the corrosion from progressing... If you do nothing - it'll only get worse. I wouldn't worry about any further "damage" to it because being dug and the way it IS - it won't change the value either way - so - cleaning it up a bit with a solvent made for copper coins will change nothing on a "value scale" but WILL help to "preserve" it from any further damage/corrosive damage.

I'm almost tempted to ask if I can come detect that place with you as I'm only 1.5 hrs away from you or so over in the Grand Rapids MI area and looking for a new detecting partner to hook up with (not to mention drooling over the looks og that place)!!
