Had a good day yesterday. I had hunted the site a few times before. This time I went back further in the field and was pleasantly surprised by two large cents and a civil war cuff button. Life is good.

A great hunt - congrats !

Congrats on the CW Eagle Button find, those US LC's are beautiful looking coins. :hello2:
The only LC I've ever found was holed as well, I think 'holed' coins are much more personal finds.

VERY NICE finds I love Large cents

I always wondered why a hole was punched in a One Cent. I can see Silver coins having holes. Found a few myself. No doubt used as jewelry sometimes. Was it a way to hold coins together when pockets were not common? So was One Cent a lot of dough to someone! I have two US One Cent brothel coins and both have holes. I think the Madam was careful I guess.

It is a and was a cheap medallion . A lot was given to family members Silver was A LOT more money

Merf, Congrat's on some nice Saves of the old coins and the Eagle Shield button. Love those CW buttons.

Great saves! Every holed coin I’ve dug has a punched hole, some from a square nail. The hole on that coin actually looks drilled. I like that you kept going back and a found an area further away with some nice coins. I’ve got an old farm with lots of acreage that I can’t seem to find the goodies. You’ve motivated me to get back out and search a little more. Nice work.
