We‘re visiting family in Idaho and I have access to private property on a 1870s battle site, I was here last august and it is still turning out good relics. Lots of 45-70s and some 38-40s.
Can anyone id the iron pieces in the top right corner and does the horse shoe look right for the time period? I had to straighten it a bit, it was hit by a plow.
I’ll be going back out there over the next couple of weeks

Wow!!!! Awesome finds!!!

Very Nice!!! The bullet in the casing doesn't surface that often. Congrats!!!

Here are some close ups of the pieces in question. The broken one may be farm equipment, but figured I would throw it in just encase it was something worth keeping.4B81450B-D2DE-4E54-8174-35847265865D.webp

I think I solved it. I believe it’s a harness clip for horse tack.E09480D6-6805-4D74-9435-13207FDC7CEE.webp

I love finding the dropped cartridges, but the blackpowder is corrosive and they usually are broken when they come out.

Thanks for all the likes and replys

The soil must play a part in the corrosion of these cartridges. I found this 45/70 in the Sierras last year. The head stamp indicates its from 1883.Screen Shot 2021-05-05 at 8.09.59 AM.webp

nice saves, looks like horse tack for me also

I think the Shoe in the middle is for a mule with a traction application. I am not sure about the items in the upper right hand corner.
