The half reals are from separate sites, so the soils have treated them a little differently. The big D-buckle is clad with sheet-silver, which has sprung free. The circular buckle, is the first I've found. It's about 1" diameter and I'm curious about it's age and what it might have been on. The true mystery item is the pewter(?) fragment, that I photographed in my hand. Having one curved side and one side flat, reminds me of a canteen shape, but I have no idea what it might be a part of.

Thanks for looking.

Great, great finds!
It's interesting to see the different conditions of the two reales. I guess soil conditions do matter. I'm very curious about the round buckle. Hopefully someone will be able to ID it for you.

Great hunt! Congrats on the 2 silvers and the great looking copper.
Liking the little round buckle-tried to find some Ref. to the age style-but had no luck.

Really sucks when it's a keeper and one tries decapitate the head...been there a few too many times-dig wide/dig deep.

Any day you're digging Spanish silver is a great day, it's especially nice when you come up with two coins. A bit of let down to have dinged King George in the face, but we've all been there. At least it wasn't an ultra-rare state-issued copper; that would be a real heart breaker.

Thanks for trying to help with the buckle ID. I struck out too. Most of the circular buckles that come up, in a google search, are medieval annular buckles and mine is clearly not that old. I would guess 19th century by the construction, although the other items, from the site, were late 18th century.

Thanks. I rationalized the coin-ding in exactly the same way. "At least it wasn't a ....." But, I have to say, I still haven't quite forgiven myself.
