Check this map out,there is a small town called carlton Lake southwest of Diablo Canyon.
It is just above and to the west of the map name at the bottom.

The Carlton Lake info loads,but the top is not.
Wonder why.It was actually called Carlton Lake Camp.Just a mining,bootleg,rough camp

I believe Stoneman Lake has always had that name. Martha Summerhayes talks about traveling to the lake from Camp Apache. That was back in 1875.
