1878 Economite Hoard Recovery
In a underground storage area at Economy,Pa., in a building erected by The Harmony Society,A utopian work- share community.
An inventory included: 400 1818-28 Quarters, Halves: 150 1794, 650 1795, 2 1796, 1 1797, 300 1801,200 1802, 300 1803, 25 1805 over 4,
600 1805, 1500 1806, 2000 1807, 100 1815, & 111,356 Common Halves. Silver Dollars: 1 1794, 800 1795, 125 1796, 80 1797, 30 1798 Small Eagle Rev., 560 1798 Large Eagle Rev., 12 1799 5 Stars Facing, 1250 1799, 250 1800, 600 1801-3. Also found were $12,600 Face Value French, Spanish, & Span/Amer. Silver Coins. Most of the coins were taken from circulation . Total Value of Hoard (1878) $ 75,000.
