Watercolor,Skinny Puppy and I went out Sunday, Temps about 45, and did a house that I got permission to do late Saturday afternoon.
Virgin area. Hugh back yard in an old neighborhood of Chicago, Norwood Park.
The owner was moving out in a couple of weeks so he said go and have fun. I said we would be back on Sunday.
Right off the bat Skinny Puppy scored with a silver dime. He may post it.
I then scored with a 1950 Dog Tag.
Watercolor then scored with a couple silver in 1 hole. He may post it..
I then scored with my first ever SHIELD NICKEL badly corroded. All we could make out was 188 .
I later scored a 1964 Quarter.
After taking a break and eating lunch we still could not make out the last number.
Got home and tried to clean it but still couldn't see it.
After awhile I said, the heck with it I'll wire brush it,..A BIG NO NO but who cares it's already badly corroded..
I still couldn't see the number.
In the morning I was looking at it with the lope and could see the 2 in the sunlight.
Oh how I was wishing it would have been a 0 or a 1
So close to a key date coin...AGAIN>>>>>
It was a great day and great company too boot.
Thanks Pat and Mark I had a blast...Again...

Nice digs... but it's te first I've seen your avatar, glad my spouse doesn't react that way! :D

Nice find, still! Pretty nice condition for a Shield.

WTG on the finds. You can't beat hunting with friends. Congrats.

Bob, thanks again to you and SkinnyPuppy for a great day of hunting.
It was worth the price of admission to be out and see you pull that Shield out of the ground not more than 10 paces from where I found silver. I'd have given up my silver finds in trade if it meant that you'd find that elusive "Seated" you've been looking for instead :D :D

Thanks,
watercolor

Gotta love it! ;)

Sounds like you all had a great time and came home with some awesome finds! 8)

Many congrats! Nana :)

Very nice finds Bob----That shield nickel is in good shape
