I got a new coil yesterday evening and gave it a test run today. I put the 6x10dd on my mxt all pro. I had 30 minutes at lunch and walked to a yard I have been to several times and just wanted to swing the coil and see how it felt compared to the 10d2 (which is kinda heavy). I walked to back porch area where I have walked 50 times and this is what I got. Now the coil felt great and balanced...but not sure if it was just in my head because of the find:laughing7:

Next question, there are a few varieties with this year and kind of hard to check, so my question is for the expert coin guys and gals, what is the best way to clean it to check it closer without doing damage? All input appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Great find. Haven't found one yet but can't wait till I do! I love the Indian heads!

Nice Indian!! They are a hard one to beat!!

Man, I wished I could almost "accidentally" find a IH. They are all far and between when I find one.

I cleaned all my IHs with hydrogen peroxide over a warming lamp. They will come out dry looking, but you can buy some stuff (I am not sure of the name) that will give it the color back.

BTW, the 1888 isn't particularly rare or anything, but you need to make sure that it isn't an error 1887 with an 1888 over it.

Pretty good quality IHC.

Nice find. Those Indians are rare finds around here. GL&HH.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us.

nice IH, that should boost your confidence in the new coil, balance can mean less arm fatigue. great find

That's a really nice Indian! You might find something to clean it up a bit, but, honestly, I wouldn't do a thing. Lightly brush the dirt and just seal it up. It should display very nicely! After all, you're just going to want to show it and say Look at what I found!. Like you just did here. :)

Clean it too hard, and you'll just be showing a pitted copper blank.

Nice find!

NGC cleans and preserves by fifteen min soaks, first distilled water, then acetone, then zylene
then they reverse procedure if needed.
If I found it, I'd hot peroxide it, then soak it in mineral oil

Thanks for the looks and cleaning tips. I have experimented with nuking HP with some wheaties and it seemed to make them so dark. Btw- Anyone know the link that gives steps to HP bath? May just brush this one a little bit. Thanks again :occasion14:
