1890's house yields mandolin pin ~ brooch ~ and Indian

Hello everyone,

This was the third trip to the old 1890's house that my 11 year old son got permission for us to hunt :o (he is much more charming than I am! And now that he has his new Garrett GTAx550 he is loaded with confidence)) Anyway......It has been SOOO hot here that we've only gone there at dusk for about and half hour or so.

The first trip we got mostly junk, but did manage a 1917 wheatie' The second time it got a little better, finding an old decorative hand carved silver lighter cover and TWO wheats 1919-D and 1942-D.

Well last night was the best! We dug three nice keepers. A Mandolin pendant, a nice brooch with a blue stone and the best Indian head I have EVER dug! A 1904 in XF cond. Maybe next time will be silver, who knows. Thanks for lookin', keep cool and until next time........

Have fun diggin!

OK ummm, :icon_scratch:

I think you have gold there. :o If those things are from the 1800's then they have to be Gold. :dontknow: Any other metal would most likely be rusted and corrode. Like brass and bronze no chance they would come up like that. They did not start the stamping act till like 1906 so they don't have to have a mark. Did you test that stuff, looks gold to me. :hello2: Also I want to see the Silver handmade lighter cover... Could you please post a picture of it? :headbang:

Cool hunting !! :notworthy:

Keep @ it and HH!! ;D

MUD,

I think they might be gold plated but not solid gold. There are no markings on them.

The lighter cover is marked 950 SILVER though.

Albert, we were both blown away with the condition of the things that were coming out there! The dirt was sandy, not the black clay like everywhere else here. I mean every Indian head I have ever dug was crap!!!
