I found this coin in 1992 at a site of an old lumber mill. At the time I had only been detecting about three years and I didn't know the rarity and value of this coin. About three feet away I found a beautiful 1904s Barber dime (another key date). I put the coins in my pouch and continued hunting. When I got home I looked up my finds and about hit the floor! I've been pretty lucky finding many key date coins but so far this is my best ever. I'm confident that I will eventually find the other two key dates for the Barber quarter series (1901s and 1913s). Living in Washington State the majority of the earlier coins found are "S" mintmarks. I rarely find any other mint marks. I need to send the quarter off and have it slabbed, I've been told by several dealers that the coin grades between VG-F but I want to have it professionally graded so I know for sure!

I just purchased a new camera with a great macro lens, so I thought I would share my best coin find (to date).

Welcome from the UK.

Not coming from the US, I have no idea how rare it is?

How many minted & approx value please?

That's really one great find. Red Book shows mintage of only 188,039. Coin Values mag. shows value of $1,200 in VG and $2,000 in Fine. My guess is in that range somewhere. Congrats.

Cheers

One strong indicator on grading barbers is how maney letters of "liberty" show, for a VG you must have two full or one full and two partial letters showing, for a grading of Fine, all seven letters must show but not necessarrily full, your quarter will prolly rate at least a fine.........good luck

Man, that is a nice find and a great pictur too.

Outstanding find, and perfect picture! It's in amazing condition also.

Thanks for sharing
