18kt gold vintage Gerard Perregaux Manual wind watch.

There were a lot of community sales yesterday. I bought this Girard Perregaux watch 1960s-1970s for $5. I know the brand, but I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and discovered that it was 18k white gold. Scored another Scotty Cameron putter as well. Too many community sales, too little time. That watch might go for $500. or more. Heck of a score. It's so rare I come buy any vintage wristwatches these days.

It had been years for me in finding a high end vintage watch. I look for them and religiously ask for them, but no idea where they are at. At a dump fill probably!

Pickers found out long ago they were hot. I had quite a few I gathered in the 80s & 90s. Rolexes, Audemars Piguet and others. I got on to selling on eBay later beginning in the late 90s and went crazy selling them ,because momma wanted to be a stay home mom. I traveled and hunted everywhere you'd find them, such as antique shops, pawn shops and thrift stores. Those places hadn't caught on quite yet to the true value they were. That was then. Today I pickup the early popular, like vintage Casio LCD watches I come by, because those have found collectors who desire to own them. Those types are still flying a bit under the radar and most of those are found in thrift stores today. You gotta know that there's probably a few good vintage mechanical watches still sitting in a sock drawer somewhere. The high-end jewelry stores advertise on the radio and TV here in Denver and other cities, telling folks they got cash for those old watches one might have sitting around. Working or not they say. They're looking to buy.

You definitely went after them prior to this big rush. I remember falling in love with vintage watches in the early 90s. I should have stuck with them. I did buy a vintage Omega Speedmaster, but I sold it when I got divorced around 1999. I picked it up from a jewelry mall in Hollywood, Florida for $450, and sold it probably for $500-$550. Unreal. That watch is probably worth now easily over $15000. I'm wearing it in 98 when my daughter was born. I have a picture with me holding my daughter and wearing my Omega.
