Metal Detecting
I've been on a 3 month long break from metal detecting, and got the itch to go out today. I'm glad I did. I found what I believe to be a 1700s era stock buckle. Its made out of silver and has a makers mark of DR which is the intials of a silversmith named Daniel Rogers from Ipswich, MA. I also found large cent (date unreadable), a dandy button, a sweet looking lock plate, some kind of pull knob, thimble, musket balls, and a flat button with writing on the back that says warranted orange rich. Can anyone tell me how much the buckle may be worth? Thanks for looking!

Another banner nod here. Congrats on a terrific recovery sir.

I voted banner.

That is off the chart for local Boston area history.

If you don't need money to keep from going hungry, please don't sell it. You may regret it if you get rich someday. LOL

Huge congratulations on the very well deserved banner. Just a brass version is a total dream find of mine. Well done once again man.

Congrats on the well deserved banner. Not sure if you said but was this a random woods find or were you on a historic site with known history?

What an awesome find. Congrats on making banner...well deserved!

What a beautiful piece of history right there, congrats on the buckle and the banner nod.:occasion14:

WOW!!! Spectacular!!! That would make my year! :O

Well, once again I've learned something here... I had to google stock buckle to figure out why this was causing such a fuss.... Now that I know congrats on a great find and the banner!

Congrats on the banner find. I'm happy to see it up there. Any neck stock buckle find is rare, but a silver one is remarkable. I've only found small pieces of copper ones.

Congrats on your banner find.

Like the others, I am just amazed at your exception find.

Thanks everyone for the banner vote. Im still kind of shocked. Ive never even heard of a stock buckle before i started researching what I had found much less know how rare it is.

I found it at an old homesite from the mid 1800s.
