Yesterday was as pretty a day as one could ask for and probably the last warm day we can expect for a while, so I got my work done and knocked off at lunch to hit the creek. I'm always looking for bottles or arrowheads, and after about a mile and only two yawner bottles, I was about done. I had reached the spot where I had planned on turning around, and had worked the area pretty hard. Ears and under my nose were getting sore, but I stuck my head in the water one more time, fanned about a half inch of sand and out popped this. I had found a V Nickel along here years ago which looked like hell. You can just barely tell that Liberty is even there, and the reverse is a total blank, and not having my glasses on, and the quarter being wet, it looked pretty slick too. I was tickled when I got my eyes on and dried it off. Probably not a big deal, but it just made my day and was the last thing I would've expected.

Well, If I had found a Barber quarter that looked that good, I would consider it a pretty big deal. Congrats!

Awesome coin and with great detail! Cool, cool find..ddf

Sweet Barber! Love the patina and detail! Still waiting for my first Barber anything and when I happen to get one, I hope it's as cool as yours! Great coin.

very nice..great find!

Posted this here because until a month ago, I had never found a silver quarter, period (except for a 1964 in change). Got out yesterday with my ETpro and got about a 70ish signal in a spot. Being pretty green to this, I try to do as y'all say, don't be 'scriminatin' and dig all targets. Dug down about 4 inches for a nail. Checked the hole with my Xpointer and nothing. Checked the pile and this popped up, a 1904-O, maybe 200 yards from where I found the 1903-O. Life's weird, ain't it?

I thinking it's in great shape under the crud with the rim still above the dentils. I've waded through the cleaning section and still don't know since every coin is different. Lemon juice, vinegar, olive oil, electrolysis, soda/aluminum foil? Any suggestions? Ain't no pine tree, but I still don't want to mess it up.

That is in Great Shape! Nice Finds...and 2 of them in the same area too boot!

Thanks, man. I just went through my "nail" apron and found this. Thought it was a button yesterday, but the dirt came off the back and I could see it was a pin. Gold plated? And it looks like frags of the stone, glass or whatever are still in the center. Where I found this and the quarter haven't seen daylight since 1942, so it ain't too recent.

Thinking lemon juice would be good for that nice looking barber

That one looks like it has an intact Liberty on the head. May be fine or better except for the color.

The few Barber quarters I have found are fairly worn flat. I do have one I found worth about $22.
