Metal Detecting
I just got a permission not too long ago for a 1904 school house that has not had class since circa the 1950's; It has been a community center in the meantime. A lot of ground to hunt and I don't think it's ever been metal detected before in the past. I invited my buddy & fellow T'Netter MikeRo out for a short evening hunt today after work and the old schoolhouse did not disappoint!

The old school & hunting areas:

We got 4 Silvers, 9 wheats, clad, and other cool stuff in a little over a two hour hunt. Here's some pics of our finds...

Mike's finds:

(1952 Rosie, 1942 war nickel, 1945 Merc, a few wheats, buffalo nickel, ring, cool toy gun, and clad)

My finds:

(1951 Franklin Half, 5 wheats, buckle, & clad)

Here's a few more pics I snapped out of excitement of my first Franklin half:

Thanks for looking,

Bingo ! An old schoolhouse with tons of land that's never been hit? Nice score ! Congrats ! Looking forward to more of your finds from that place.
Should be some coins from late 1800's waiting for you. Go get 'em !

Great job. Plenty more to be found at that spot.

Sweet!!! Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Had a blast Ziggy! Thanks for the invite. Congrats on the awesome half dollar!

A big old Franklin, heck yeah! Nice site you found there. Keep up the good work!

If a kid showed up at school today with that little pistol pendant they'd call the cops and take the kid away in cuffs. It's getting crazy out there. Gary

Congrats on the great finds and good luck when you go back !

Those are some nice finds Ziggy, and congrats on your first Franklin.

2 hours isn't enough for that site! Get back there and spend a whole day. Work it slow and deliberate. You'll be surprised what you missed!

Congrats on a great permission! Ben sure looks good for his age:icon_thumleft:

Those coal miner kids in Fairchance didn't have much money in 1904, but there should be some Indian Heads and barber dimes. Keep looking

Holy moly great Job I bet theres tons more all those kids dropping change sweetness keep em coming

Whoa...an old, closed school that has been waiting for a coil all those years! Congrats on all those finds, especially that Franklin! That guys been loitering around my bucket list for so long I’m gonna start charging him rent... Congrats and if I was you I’d be camping out there! Ddf

Nice day!! Four silvers between the two of you is pretty good. I have no silver so far this year... this week I am going to get out do some detecting hopefully.

Great spot! Never metal detected. Ever? I seriously doubt it.
Back in the 80's I was working an old school and had great luck there. I thought maybe the same thing until one day there was an old man detecting. I stopped to chat and he explained to me where the hot spots were back ten years earlier and that his club had several outings there. I believe he told me that one day he found ten walkers, all separate finds. There's still stuff there, deep. It's where I learned how to use a big coil and find mercs over a foot deep. BTW I have never found a silver dime over a foot deep with my new machines.

Grats on some great keepers, may the Ben be lonely only temporarily in your pile of treasure and next time out.....GOLD!
