Metal Detecting
Finally metal detected the yard around the house I grew up in. I had only expected to find a handful of pennies that some foolish child would have happened to drop. To think that this was hiding under my feet for the better part of my life.

Great historical find! I've found two of them over the years. They're the only political relics I've ever found.

Thank you, these things are very neat finds. My father is keeping it as he wants to put it on his key ring. I am wondering if it is worth flattening and if there is a good way to preserve the enamel in the lettering.

Nice find!

Serious question: What?s the point of trying to preserve anything if your father is putting it on his key ring? It?ll get beat up by use and rubbing with keys anyway.

Fair point, any work on it won't last in the long run. It is more of a curiosity question to learn the process and practice it on an item that will see use.

That?s a good idea too.

There?s a restoration forum you could check out.

Bully find! I don't care how much sentimental value you've attached to your current watch fob – it's time to replace it with Teddy's.

I've always liked those. Made to look like a railroad baggage tag. Probably handed out at every whistle stop on the campaign trail.
