Went on a group hunt yesterday with a great group of guys. We assembeled at a location in a nearby town where there have been several silvers found. I got skunked on silver yesterday but had a few interesting finds. I found a smooth nickel that I have been unable to identify, a 1936 Wheat Penny, some clad and an old St. Louis lock. After doing some research today, I discovered that the lock was more than likely a souvenier from the 1904 Worlds Fair in St. Louis. There was an article in a back issue of Western and Eastern Treasure magazine that had an identical lock found by another hunter. The lock is brass as you can see showing through where I nicked it with my Lesche. The hunt was a lot of fun and I was still excited about the 1876 Seated Dime that I found at the same place earlier in the week so a no silver day didn't bother me.
