I found this old bottle Saturday at the location of an old church. The grass was so tall and thick I could barely swing my GTI-2500 and sniper coil. I only found nails and old cans but saw this bottle and another. I couldn't get to the other one. this one has a date stamped 4-8-1911 and it's a threaded bottle but still just over 100 years old.

Hey fongu,

That's a 1946, I think. What are the numbers to the left and right of the Owens mark? The Duraglas process did not enter the bottle arena until 1940. It looks like a bleach to me.

Thanks surf. I just assumed it was 1911 and have did some research since my post and saw where I was mistaken. It didn't have any code on top, just the 4-8 and 11 on bottom of the diamond looking mark. It was 32 oz and I hoped it was a beer bottle, but probably mistaken about that also.

You're welcome, fongu,

Sorry, but a beer would not have a screw cap in 1948. The form is saying bleach to me: Bleach Bottles

Found this today

Found this gem today. Any idea what a time period?
It has a very strong smelling something in it

Maybe 1935 or 1938. Or, 1945 or 1948. One of those four dates anyway! And keep in mind that it can be dangerous to smell the contents of a bottle if you don't know what's inside! They can put some pretty nasty stuff in bottles, especially large chemical/utility bottles like these. Solvents, pesticides, you name it.

cool bottle i go back and check out the other one

Nice old bottle find. Congrats

Thats a great display piece I agree go look for more that is really cool. Tommy
