Hi! I hope someone can solve this. This was dug in a city park in Il. dating back to the 1800's. Non magnetic. Rim reads Patented 1913. Small. Just larger than a dime. Nail looking part in the bottom (iron?). Beak not found. Seems to be one solid piece. I cannot find out anything about it. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Was the metal top (would have had cork wood attached to the bottom) for a cork top small bottle. - WAG. :dontknow:

Cool find no matter what it turns out to be.

Thank you!

It looks to me like it might be a pie weight. Sometimes there is a hole going from underneath to top to let the steam out of the top crust so it doesn’t puff up.

No hole. Thank you!

Nice!!! Congrats!!! The two Mercs on the same hunt?

Yes we did! All in the same area. Thanks!

Great finds, congrats! Thanks for posting, and welcome to Tnet!

It kind of looks like a bottle stopper to me, too. Good luck on a solid ID.

Thank you!
