Hey Everybody, I went out for a short dig today in the yard of an early 1800's house. Is this an vintage 'square lead' mechanical pencil? With the screw on tip, it measures 3 inches long. There is a round metal rod that is in the center case. It appears to be silver plated, and rang up as a silver half dollar then would jump to dime/penny and back. Any help and/or ideas would certainly be appreciated.

UPDATE:
I've partially cleaned it and around the top it is marked Beegee Jr. The patent date looks to be Oct. 17, 1911 or Oct. 17, 1901. Underneath the date is: MADE IN U.S.A.

Breezie
