as you all know I am new at this what is a key date? so if I find one I will know lol
 

Key Dates are dates of coins that are considered rare, due to the amount minted, age etc. They usually have a higher value than other coins of the same venue. For example a 1916 D mercury dime has a value depending on the condition, much higher than a 1916 mercury dime with no mint mark, due to rarity. Put key date coins in a search engine and there are several sites that will explain it better than I. TMAN...
