1923-S Mercury dime and a "what's it?"

I went back to the area where I found the two class rings & gold watch to see what else I can dig out of there ~ didn't do as good today, but still got a few cool items ~ a 1923-S Merc dime, 1952 nickel, three wheat cents, and something I have no idea what it is ~ kinda like a little box with open sides, it's engraved NUOVO, it's not silver, probably nickel? Anyone know what it might be?

Does the merc dime have a double-die rim, or is it a photographic optical illusion?

Nuovo is apparently Italian for "new." There is an Olio Nuovo, which means "New Oil" and is a brand of olive oil. I have no idea if your little box is in any way associated with it, though.

Nice Merc.

My best guess is an Art Deco scarf clip. Or, scarf holder.

Keep 'em coming!
