1940's era Natural Gas Heater

Hi, my father-in-law asked me to help him research the value of a heater he has. The heater is natural gas and was manufactured by the Dixie Foundry Co., Cleveland, TN. It is listed in the 1940 catalog as a "Circulator". We have model no. 54-212. Any help with appraising this item would be appreciated. I was able to find it in a catalog posted on ebay for sale.Dixie Foundry Cleveland Tennessee Vintage Stoves Heaters Ranges Sales Catalog

My dad put an old LP heater like that in the garage. Worked beautifully at cranking up the heat when out working on my dirt bike or car in the winter. Before 2008 I was selling these VAL6 heater that burn one gal. per hour No. 1 or 2 diesel with no fumes, but after 2008 no one wanted to spend the $1800. for such a heater when you could buy a crappey Home Depot salamander for $300. Our sales dropped and manufactor dropped our dealership ageement. Before 2008 I was selling 10 to 20 of these a month to the exploration drillers in cold ass northern Nevada. I'd like to re-establish that dealership agreement, but they found others who focus more on selling things like Hotsy pressure washers and things like mobile heaters Home | J.S.O'will, Inc. I think you could get $100+ to the right buyer if your heater was in good working order as it be worth that as a good well made heater you can use.
