Hello to all!

I went out this morning even though the forecast was for rain. I stayed fairly close to home because of the weather and possible rain out hitting two schoolyards and a park.

The two schoolyards were both picked very clean. Someone did really good prior to me getting there, no trash and very few targets. I still kept hunting as I didn't have any where else to go that was close. It was also raining the whole time but I kept the detector box covered with a plastic shopping bag. I found a few coins, some trinkets, a mood ring. Finally, at the second school near one of the swings I found a chain and St Christopher medallion with a hockey player on it. It's hallmarked sterling and has someone's initials inscribed on the back.

Near the second school was an old park hidden in the middle of the neighborhood, so I went over there too. The rain was picking up but I got 45 minutes in at the park. It had one small play area. I got a nice junque ring, very pretty, under a bench by the play area. It gave my heart a leap thinking it was a goldie but it's not hallmarked. Both the junque rings are pretty nice.

There was also a nice size hill in the center of the park so I went over and swang a little there and glad I did. I found quite a few coins and finally another keeper, a 925 heart earring. I'll take it! On the side of the hill I dug my best find. After a short dry spell of late not finding any gold, I popped out a 1946 gold Class Ring. Not sure if it's a men's or women's ring, but it's old. It's marked 10K. Unfortunately, it is damaged, bent real bad and worse yet, the top insignia that may have contained the school logo is missing so there will be no way to track down the owner. Oh well, gold is gold, wooowhooo!

The rain really picked up and I called it a day, soaking wet, muddy, and cold.

I was very happy with my three keepers today.

A lot of work today and luckily the nice keepers saved my day. Otherwise, kind of a slow day for finds. 3 hours hunt time before I packed it up, only 64 coins for $5.84. Luckily, 19 quarters boosted the face value. Some nice trinkets and rings.

These three rings put me over the 150 ring total mark for the season (47 keepers & 105 junque/trinket ones). Here's all my finds today.

Thanks for reading!! HH to all!

too bad about the classring , but still some great finds Boobydoo, big congrats ;)

I always like to try to return these (as most do here I think) but this one goes into the scrap gold pile I suppose. I'll take it. Thanks for the read and reply!

Nice day of hunting in this crappy weather. One of those quarters looks like a worn silver. Maybe it's just me.

Good eye Mike!! I put it on top just to see if anyone would comment on it!
That was my thought when I spotted it laying on top by the swings in the chips but no, it's a 1990 quarter, not silver. Sure is worn though.

Thanks for looking! Best of luck buddy!

Thank you BM!! It was kind of a slow day, a lot of swinging with no signals, but the three keepers gave me the big smiles I was looking for!! Good luck to you!!

The saint christopher medal was very cool!!!!

Finding the first keeper of the day is always a relief huh, knowing there won't be a skunk following ya. ;D
I really enjoy the religious items in any form and this one is nice, thanks! The chain was clasped and intact, not broken so I guess they must have taken it off then lost it...bummer.

I know what you mean by the rain. I work in Wayne and had a little time to spare today but my trip there was mist, rain, sloppy wet. Quit enough to get in a mini hunt but only found 9 pennies today. Oh well. At least my coin count increased by nine. Rings are fun is my motto.

I like your motto!! Go get em! Thanks for the read and friendly comment!

I have a similar dilemma with a 1966 10K ring that I found last year. The school crest is gone from the stone. The color of the stone leads me to believe it's from the town that I found it in (Fremont, MI). When I get back from Iraq I'll dig into the 1966 Yearbook and get with the school and try to track down the owner.

Congrats,

Thanks SgtSki!! God bless you buddy, you take care of yourself please and we'll see you home safe soon I hope. Best of luck!

Nice hunt in spite of the rain! HH, Mike

Thank you Mike. I should be out there today too... but I am home doing my house chore instead. It's sunny today, but colder. Maybe a short hunt this afternoon?
Take care my friend, all the best buddy!

More great finds BDoo--Congrats.

You are going to need to but a bigger jewelry case. ;D

I would hit that hill again...the one I am hitting has yielded alot and I am only half way done...last week the winds were just to much to go back for me.... I have a couple active spots picked out for this week. Nice quarter amount and jewelry finds. I will take 19 quarters in 3 hours any day I would definitely consider it another good hunt...

Hey Bobby, It was a bit rainy over this way too. Grandson & I got out and hit some tot lots...no jewelry, only clad & junque. Zack got cold and I found him sitting on the swings or the merry go round several times...haha. Had to send him back to the car a couple times. Congrats on the keepers my friend! ;D

The quarter finds and the old ring definitely made the soggy cold feeling tolerable. It's fairly close to me so I will have to get back there again. I think it's used for sledding and for and sit down place to watch the basketball games going on next to it? Thanks Greg!

Thanks Bob. It's cool to see you spend time with your grandkids this way. Best of luck out there bud, hope you get a few more goodies before the snow flies!
