Hi there!

We're having perfect metal detecting weather!! Nice wet ground and about 50 degrees ~ easy diggin' and not too cold!

Headed downtown where it's been hunted hard ~ but I slowed way down and listen to all the targets ~ it's amazing what you find when you just dig it all! Deep targets sure don't come in like the shallow targets. Here's what I dug today:

1954-s Washington quarter
1945 Mercury dime
1955 Mexican 5 centavos
8 wheat cents ('44 to '58)
British Royal Air Force pin
8 clad quarters
9 clad dimes
7 modern nickels
31 copper memorial cents
2 - 50 Caliber projectiles

I took pictures of the coins before and after I cleaned 'em up. The quarter and dime are my silver coin finds #6 & #7 for the year.

Anyone know how old this RAF pin is?

Thanks for looking!
Neil

We couldn't ask for better detecting weather than what we
had yesterday...too bad it isn't going to stay that way. The
RAF blazer pin is probably WW1....neat find. Congrats on the
silvers and the Mexican 5 Centavos coin. Keep saving that
clad...pretty soon there might be enough for a tank of gas. LOL!
(if prices don't go up some more) HH Gold Nuggets :hello:

Kind of odd to dig up .50 cal rounds. Were you digging near a military training site? I know Ft Lewis is kind of neraby but there shouldn't be rounds in Oregon from there.

The Mexican coin appears to have the image of "Josefa" Ortiz de Doninguez (KM 424). If so, 31+M were minted in 1955 (the last year of that series). Valued about $2.00 in very fine condition; and composed of bronze.
Do.......

I followed your posts all last year and you are the Silver King! I like the fact that you take before and after pics. There are a couple of members who could learn a lot from looking at your posts. I know you said you headed downtown and I was wondering if you hunt mostly private yards, schools / parks or a little of both. Keep posting those great finds!

THANKS MAN!

I do a lot of 'easement' hunting . . . . . . that strip of grass in between the curb & sidewalk. In most towns that area is owned by the city, but the adjacent home owner usually is responcible to maintain that area. Most people don't care if you detect there ~ but some people think they own it and they ask you not to detect there . . . . . that's fine, I just move on to the next easement. But sometimes the home owner is interested in what you're finding and they will invite you into their lawn to detect! That's when its really fun ~ usually virgin ground!

8^)

Awesome RAF pin ...congrats !
