1970 kennedy half?

There was roughly 2.2 million minted and they were only issued in mint sets. People find them fairly often here on the forum.

I found 5 x 1970-D in 322 boxes this year. Two boxes had 2 of them in each. I also found a 1970-S in loose halves this year.

The 1970's along with the 1976-S silvers seem to be the CRH key dates.

I've only gone through a total of maybe 60 boxes and have not found a single one yet. I need the 70 and 1976 s

4 years of hunting and only taking a couple of the summer months off each year and I have never found any of the above and I have a little over 700 silver halves. For 4 years that may not be much to some but I only search 4 to 6 boxes every other week.

157 boxes so far this year and have found 1 1970d. I have found 2 1976s also.

the 40% silver 1970's are scarce ...as are the 40% silver 1976 S ...the 1995 S proof silver is also a key date

None in almost 7 years I have been here.

I have 3 70's, teller find and I bought them off her. I had a post about it on here. I think I've searched about 12 boxes and I might do $150 - $200 CWR's a week. Just got lucky to get the ones I have, and for the price I paid.

Not sure I'd use the term "fairly often". I've found 2 out of $460,000 searched... I literally find more Barber halves than 1970 halves.

I have found 0 of both, but I see more posts about finding 1970 halves than I do Barbers. I don't literally mean that someone finds one a day, but I would say you find people posting about finding them more than silver proofs or something else that isn't easy to find in circulation.

My apologies for making it sound like they are prevalent out in the wild. :)

I don't search a lot of halves but have found the '70D and S, in the last few years.

I've been lucky enough to find exactly one each of the "70's so I ain't complaining. That's in just under $100K searched.

The only 1970 half I ever found was from a Vegas slot machine twenty years ago, a 70-D. Those were the good ol days when you could walk away with a bucket full of silver halves in a couple of hours.
