This is a very difficult cent to find until you find one. I have posted pictures here to maybe help. Notice how high the 7 is first of all then look at the tail of the 9 it points towards the 7. On a large date the 7 is lower and the tail of the 9 points towards the bottom of the coin. Hope this helps.

Nice cent. It is indeed difficult to find. Yours looks beautiful. Was it cherrypicked from a mint set? Once you know what to look for, it is easier to distinguish the differences. I always focus on the "9".

I'm sure it probably was along the way. You ever found one?

I've found mine in the wild. Never have I been fortunate to cherrypick one from a mint set. I still keep my eye out not only for this one but other varieties. You would be surprised that many collectors have no idea what to look for. My friend owns an Estate Buying Store, and I get first pick of any numismatic quality coins that go through them.

What a awesome opportunity. I must ask what has been your best find? As far as coin goes? Price given and price worth?

1917 D Obverse mintmark in EF bordeline AU. Found in the wild at face value.

With regards to the Estate Store, he'll buy whole collections. I pay a buck over melt for Morgans/Peace. I'll cherrypick Walkers and Bens for the same price. Most of the time mint sets and proof sets come with collection. He'll pay face perhaps a bit more for certain proofs. He doesn't sell them in his store. I usually take them off his hands for even money, and flip them on eBay. Any sets where the the coins are not up to my liking, he auctions through his sister's business. Their customers actually pay money for mint tokens in 2x2's that come in mint sets. I have no idea why.
