i work as a cashier at a large grocery store and always look through the change + bills for silver and old bills

today i found a crisp 1974 five dollar bill. is it worth anything more than $5? probably not but just wanted to know
serial number is C13994218C

also, i was wondering when the security strips for bills were started? i checked this one against light and it doesnt have a strip or watermark

it may have a slight error of the ink from the obverse showing on the reverse

ill try to scan it later, but i cant now because it is screwed up and doesnt work on my laptop

security strip series 1990

watermark series 1996

if its in really nice shape, id keep it, but if its at all folded, id spender...hope this helps! keep it up and hh! [R.I.P. Rich Hartford]

thanks for the replies you guys :icon_thumright:

no it doesnt have any fold lines. the only fault on the entire thing is a slight bend (no visable mark) maybe due to being in a wallet. but no folds, tears, stains, or creases at all.
