I see a 1984 Lincoln that has a very slightly misaligned obverse. This happens millions of times a year.

In future posts, please explain what you think is different about your coin.

Time for more coffee.

What would make you think that? It looks normal to me

Thank you! And the ring on the top but it is normal.

Are these marks just use and abuse or something else?060BFF57-1879-4A9B-8021-CC386812B45F.webp

junk Zinc coins that got mineral content on them or dug coins...

Consider that since mid-1982, the Lincoln Cent has been made from a zinc planchette with thin copper plating. Since zinc is very reactive compared to copper, any compromise of the plating will expose zinc to oxidation. Normal circulation can do this, but yours has obvious post mint damage.

collar damage, not a major issue.

Galenrog is telling it like it is.

The copper plating gets compromised by a pin hole and the zinc deteriorates from the inside. As the zinc oxidizes it expands slightly which pushes and distorts the copper outward, giving the volcano effect.

Most of the zinc cents I have pulled out of the ground have this type of damage.
