Found this in a big foreign coin box today. No sign of copper at all. Any info?

We need photos of the obverse and reverse. Edge shot means nothing. It probably has had the copper plating removed.

Wierd, it shows they loaded on mine. I'll put up again 20180531_154651.webp20180531_164144.webp

Looks like that was dug from some mild soil. All I see is a little green patina on a Zincoln. :dontknow:

I thought it might be a layer of something at first and rubbed it, but it stays the same color can't see any sign of copper. I guess what I'm asking is are there pennies like this out there? Couldn't find any examples except some that are blotchy with the plating.

After more research I have learned that people chemically alter these alot and it could be that or an unplated planchet. So I'll just keep it, not worth getting it tested I think as that can cost 25 bucks. I do see unplated ones that people have sold which were genuine errors

It could be an unplated Planchet but would have to be certified by a Third Party Grading Service to know for sure. Yes, some folks treat Copper plated Zinc Cents with Acid to dupe unsuspecting buyers into thinking they are Error coins and paying a premium.

Thanks had my local coin shop guy look at it. He said it looks real, and that is one of the right years for that mistake. But he also said if u want to sell it you need to certify it and that costs almost as much as its worth. I was just going to hold on to it anyways so I'm happy with the find.

Trade ya for 1986 copper penny?
