1991-D Zinc Error Lincoln ?

Found this in my penny jug. It looks like a steel penny. There are no scratches. just what looks like a burn mark. Is it an error or somebody's experiment? Thanks for looking.

Looks to be an unplated planchet error. A mint error where the copper outer layer was missing for one reason or another when the coin was struck. Nice find!

More than likely it was plated....you'd probably have to weigh it to find out.
