Last night when going through my halves, I found a 1996p that did not have a full lip around the outside edge.It is completely smooth but not from wear. The bottom third has no lip. The coin appears to have had very little circulation as it has lots of luster. Have I found anything of value? Or just $.50?

Since I'm showing my ignorance here, what's an Ike?

Could you post a pic? You probably have a slight mistrike from a worn die or something of that nature. You might get a slight premium from the right buyer, but it's interesting none the less

An Ike, is an Eisenhower $1 coin - before SBA's (Susan B Anthony's) came out

Thanks for the explanation. I thought that might be it but wasn't sure since they were talking about halves.

Would you believe I don't have a digital camera or know how to use one. I guess I'll have to catch up with the times. Maybe my 9 year old can teach me.

Rick, A flat bed scanner does a good job of copying halves. Its a good tool to have anyway and cheeper than most cameras.
