1999 wide AM!

Edit: False alarm, it's a 1990 that just looks like a 1999 at first glance because of spotting.

My lucky box produces again. It's in average circulated condition, but I know this is a tough coin to find. I can't even find much about it with Google, other than it being rare and worth hundreds in uncirculated condition, and that it's apparently the result of using proof dies for business strikes.

Wide AM on the left, ordinary variety on the right.

The wide AM (left) has the artist's initials closer to the Memorial.

Has anyone on the west coast ever found one of these? Most of what I get out here are Denver mints, so I'm guessing the odds of finding one out here are significantly more difficult...

Wow, I'm such a doof. I was looking at it again when I got home today and I realized my mistake... I was fooled because of some spotting on the front of the coin. It's a 1990. What a letdown.

Bummer! Better to catch it now than after sending it off to be graded. Keep on looking, you may find one, or at least one of the three 1998-2000 Wide AM error dates.

Oh well, nice try. Those are sure hard to come by. Found 2 - 1998 WAM's last night searching a box. I just need a 1999 to come my way.

I also found what I thought was a 1999 Wide AM, and it was a 1990. Turns out that my eyes were tired and the light poor...and it is a let-down.

I have found 2 of the 2000 Wide AMs, one in crappy condition for such a recent coin. No '98 or '99 ever. I've probably looked through at least 100,000 pennies in the last couple of years, so these are rare birds.
