Went into the woods today to detect a couple sites I?ve been to many times before. First site has a cellar hole and lots of iron. Other than square nails, nothing old there. I then walked a short distance to site #2 that has no cellar hole but there are several cart paths and some piled stones; I had found a button or two there before. Not 30 feet in I get a squeaky high-tone and uncover a large cent from about 2 inches. Attached to the LC is an 1856 dime. I rechecked the area and dug a fatty Indian about two feet away. I think all three were attached at some point. Popped dime off the LC to find the dime has no mint mark and the date on the LC is from the 1840s. I'm fairly certain that the 'fatty' IHC is an 1859, which places the spill around that time.
