I've put in about 25 hours on the CTX hunting the wet and dry sands in primarily the stock beach setting. First 5 hours was a whole bunch of playing around trying to understand how everything works. Felt comfortable enough to modify the the beach program. I like the fast recovery a little better in the wet sands.

In addition to about $20 in clad, I've found 3 Junkers (yes the serious bling on the end is a heartbreaker), 5 silver and one 10k. The 10k I found today in the surf. Overall vs the Excal, I am digging far less trash. I am still trying to get comfortable with the 17in coil and pinpointing. Spending more time than I would like chasing clad than with the excal.

Overall I am very pleased with the machine. Can't wait to completely understand everything and get it dialed in.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Sal

Great pic of your rings...My question is CTX or Excal are you missing good targets instead of digging everything? Like I do with the DF or PI. I'm tempted to try a different tool but I don't know?

Good stuff Sal..........

Takes time to learn a new language, but it looks like you are conversational! :occasion14::skullflag::headbang:

That is the concern I have too. With the excal you're digging much more but mostly trash. I've been wondering if I've missed things to be honest but I'm starting to think I'm not....other than iron and bottle caps.

If you want to give the CTX a go, let me know. We can meet up at a beach and you can give it a spin.

Gotta say I dig a ton of caps/junk every time I'm out. That's the nature of the PI. That said... I'd like to hunt up your way and compare the DF along with your CTX. It would be fun to compare "on the job" so to speak... the two detectors.
I'll PM You...Thanks
