Spent 4 hours today on field of harvested potatoes. a bit "up and down" but much better than the new stubble on the other fields. only found one coin , but its a beauty. A silver unit of the Coritani Tribe. its in very good condition for being from about circa 55 to 45 BC. Uninscribed with a Boar on the Obv. and a Horse facing Left on the Rev. and like all the Iron age coins is "dished" shape. its abt 14mm diameter and weighs in at 1.3 gram. so its very small... Hutch.

Ya did great! Thanks for sharing...

That is the oddest coin I've ever seen! Not a clue about ancient coins at all, but I think you could have a special coin. Definitely not anything posted like that on this site.....not even by Crusader, and he has posted tons of hammered coins! Not saying his coins aren't great, but your's is just crazy! I think I'm looking at a BANNER!

Posted quite a few Celtic Silver Units thanks (Had 4 this year already), not many from this tribe though & not this attribution.

Shame Philip de Jersey is not still recording these, because the PAS doesn't give them the right attention.

Looking at the latest book (ABC), this is an interesting variant on an EXTREMELY RARE coin, the 'Wheel Type Left' (ABC1794). Although the Boar is a close match, the wheel over the horse should have spokes & there should be a ring & dot between the legs. These type of die differences needs an expert opinion. But its safe to say there will be less than 10 examples recorded, & without looking, might be the only one with this combination.
Banner is a worthy vote.

Beautiful Celtic silver unit! With beeing less than 10 recorded like Cru said you made a heck of a find today! My vote is in too.

Only had 2 of those myself - ever. (Potins that is)
As we know these type of coins only turn up in low numbers, like 1-5 a year. That's why 4 & 4 is a great total already, 1 gold will round off a great year. You may get one as well, where there is a silver there is normally a gold.

ONE OF THESE DAYS IM GOING TO UK , AND FIND ME ONE OF THEM CELTIC COINS . SWEET ...

That is a fantastic find indeed. I'm a sucker for the Celtic coins, they are simply beautiful. Any Celtic coin is special, but being an exceedingly rare "joined tribes" coin deserves to be on the Banner.

Amazing find. Another great one Soapy
Many thanks Scrappy: l have been searching this particular field now for 25 years and l feel there is still more to come from it . Hutch.

That's an excellent find well done.

What an amazing piece! Congrats! -Lisa & John
