Today in the backyard I found alot of junk but one interesting thing?: a piece of aluminum or tin with a hole in the middle and a couple corroded-through holes, stamped: TAX TOKEN---STATE OF WASHINGTON---(something) COMMISSION flip side: 10 CENTS---TAX ON PURCHASE---19??(a hole there). Strange to find it here in St Louis Mo. Front yard: 2 Lincoln pennies and a Truman dime. New to this and anxious to cover more ground. Using an ACE 250 & V4 Pinpointer. Anyone know when these tokens were used or still are...and how? Thanks.
Update: Thanks for correcting me...Roosevelt not Truman...told you I was new to this. Googled 'Tax Tokens' This particular one issued in WA State mid 30s...pretty common, so no value except was my 1st find.

Welcome to TNet. I hope you mean a Roosevelt dime, I don't think I've ever seen a Truman. Can't help you on the token, but wishing you the best!

That's ok, Dogear....a find is a find....and for a first timer....your first find is something you will remember for years to come. Good luck in your future finds....and always remember, Dogear....the next one may be a gold coin. You never know....so keep looking...keep searching...keep asking....and by all means...keep posting.

Thanks folks for pointing out my error...I always thought that was Truman's head on the dimes. Never too old to learn...but I'm almost embarassed about that one. Glad I joined up!

If you've got a Truman dime, hide that baby away!! ;D

Neat finds. You found a WA State tax token. Kinda neat and something thats got some history to it also. WTG

Dogear - Congrats on your first finds and welcome to TNet. Great bunch of guys and gals here. I've learned a lot from this forum, and I'm sure you will as well. I swing the 250 as well. Nice machine for $200.
