I did 3 $500 boxes of dimes today, 1st 1964 D, 2nd 1943 D, 3rd 1964 D. 1 per box, not great but better than the 0 from 4 previous boxes. Halves , 1968 from a teller tray, and a 1965 in the last roll of $170 of machine wrapped halves. And the best find of the day a $50 bill in the bank parking lot!

Yeah .. Uh .. technically you're supposed to report all lost money found and after 30 days or so, if no one claims it, it's yours. Bring it to the police station, if no one claims it and where it was lost, it's yours. LOL

But seriously there is a CA law out there about that. Don't worry, I won't say anything. LOL

That's a very nice find indeed. :icon_thumleft:

What's funny is that I've worked law enforcement before and had no knowledge of the law until someone else pointed it out to me later. This lady told me she found a $100 bill, once turned it into the station, and got it a month later when no one reported it missing. I was shocked that people still did that. Don't worry, I'm not in that biz anymore.

No, what's funny is that you treat California law Enforcement like a business
:toothy1:

Is there a Rimshot Smiley somewhere...can't find it...

uh i lost some money -its green and has $50 on it - great greedy folks line -- vary the amount and location of the police station you report it to --its like playing the lotto for free.

another great scam -- your at the beach and find a gold ring , go into a happy dance some shmoo comes up --oh good youse found (his or his wife's ring )-- now give it to me or i'm calling da cops for theft by convertion.

Oh yea!!!! Nice!!!

I've turned in lost cash before, and I've kept it before. Depends on the circumstances for me.

Found a $100 bill at a drive-in movie theater....somewhat near the concession stand. Mentioned it to the cashier when no one was around (i.e. during the movie) and checked back later to see if anyone claimed to have lost it. They didn't, so I kept it.

Another time, I found $70-$90 (don't remember the exact amount anymore...) on the floor in the locker room at lifetime fitness (later in the evening when it was fairly empty) and turned it in. They said if no one claimed it within 30 days, it was mine. Someone claimed it the next day.

A friend of mine found about $150-$200 in Las Vegas hotel lobby and turned it in, only to get it back later when no one claimed it.

On a separate note, I've dropped a $100 bill in a bank lobby before and gotten it back. Funny thing is that I didn't even know I had dropped it until they told me the next time I went back to the bank (the next week).
