One of the banks I stopped at yesterday didn't have any halves, but said they have an extra box today. I asked if they ordered boxes on a regular basis, but they said no, they just knew they'd have an extra box. I didn't ask, I just said I'd take it.

Stopped by today to pick it up. The box had been opened - the teller said she dropped it - so I was a little apprehensive, but took it anyway. Got home, opened it up, all rolls present, but the first one I opened felt short - only 19 coins. >:( On top of that, all the rolls were filthy!

However, I soon found a '65, so dirty that if I hadn't been date checking I would have missed it. I kept finding 40%'ers ending up with 9 of them, and what I think is my first clipped planchet - a 1972D. I haven't found one of these before, so I'm not certain that's what I've got.

Can anyone help me out with identification? Is it worth anything?

Yes, definitely a true mint clip error. The one thing that real clips have is a weakened rim opposite the clip and weak details opposite the clip as well. This is caused by metal flowing from the opposite side to the clip during minting. Nice find!

Yes, it's a clip. I've found a couple clips over the years. A 65 & a 84-D (double clip). Nothing spectacular but noteworthy.

You need to wear a pair of gloves when doing this. I just use a pair of latex gloves and open the rolls with a tool. I just wash the gloves out with soap and water afterwards and reuse them for the next box. The filth was part of the deterent why I didn't do more boxes long ago until I thought outside the box. Unfortunately, the boxes here suck so it doesn't really matter. LOL Wished I did a lot more long ago when the finds were abundant.

I too am curious as to what a clip like that is worth on the market? Anything?

Nice find on the clip and the silver

Probably $8 to $10. Hadn't checked error sites in a while but that's from what I remember I saw years ago. If you get a double or triple clip, those are worth more. The more dramatic the error, the more it's worth. Condition matters a lot. I've seen PCGS graded MS double or triple state quarter clips go for $100-200 on Feebay. Of course PCGS charges $30 just to grade an error coin. All the clips we find are on circulated coins so they're not worth much.
