What's up everybody! Greenhorn here...a friend and I were at a school built in 1919 yesterday. Had a great time digging up silver and clad coins all day. He started with a 1900 barber dime around 10:00 near the road out in the front part of the field. All clad and trash in the morning for me. After lunch I went for a walk on a small piece of grass on the other side of the school and found my first old coin on the day, a 1944 wheat cent. About twenty feet from the wheat cent I found my first silver coin with a metal detector, a 1926 mercury dime (I've only been detecting for 3 1/2 months). The day was made epic when 10 minutes and 10' away from the merc dime I stumbled over a 1944 walking liberty half dollar! It beeped like a freight train at about 5". I started to grid the area in 4 different directions and found my first Indian head cent, a 1902!! A great day made even better due to the fact that my new AT Pro arrived Thursday. I was using an Ace 300 prior and I'm very impressed with the upgrade I made. What a difference!! Thanks to everyone who posts and comments on this site. The knowledge is priceless! HH

1st - I noticed this was your very first post deepdiggingnc - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

2nd - Nice finds!

Welcome and congratulations on those great digs!

Congrats, AT Pro is a great machine, wait until Carolina Tom gets a gander at these finds!

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on some great coins.

Congratulations on a super hunt. Let me suggest that you order some cardboard coin folders. I always put my silver coins in folders. I then put them in clear plastic sheets that have 12 pockets that are designed to hold your coin folder. The sheets are kept in loose leaf binder. I always put the coin date, the date found, and, (on the reverse side of the folder), the location where the coin was found. I also write a big "FIRST" in red lettering on any bucket listers that I recover. You had an outstanding hunt. The AT PRO is a great machine.
Congratulations again.

That is a great day.
