Hello all,
I spent New Years week back at home in central Texas and was able to get a couple hunts in. Found a 1953 wheat at my grandmas house on the 3rd, hunted for about 15 min. My mom several months ago was gifted a Whites Classic that was just sitting in one of her friends workshop for years but works great so on the 4th we went to our local rodeo arena to get her aquatinted with it since the sand is easy digging. She loves it, now all she needs is a pinpointer and she’ll be good to go! We found several bucks clad and I found a 1942 wheatie.
On the 5th I drive back to Birmingham and along the way stopped at a church on a sandy hill. There was zero grass so I figured no one would care if I poked around and I didn’t get near the graveyard to make no offense. The church was new tin sheet metal but some of the graves were from WWII era so I thought maybe there was a previous structure. The only spot I found much was in the shade of a large oak tree but under it I found 4 1940s wheats and 5 1940s Jefferson’s including a non silver 1942-P and a silver 1943-P war nickle, my first silver of 2018!! Hopefully, I’ll surpass last years numbers which in my mind were bad with only 4 silver coins and 81 wheaties. Oh, I also found a neat older screw back earring but its gold plated over copper and has a large glass green stone with very little scratches.
Sorry for the long post guys but figured you guys snowed and iced in needed something to read. Here’s the pics! Hope you can all get out there soon!
