1st single frequency detector i've ever seen that will GB wet salt sand in my ar

I recently got a Fisher F70 and my 1st impression was "It feels cheap" Then I got to thinking, the only complaint I have always had about the multi freq detectors that could deal with wet salt sand, was that they were too heavy. So, I guess the F70 is the one lightweight detector, that can gb out wet salt sand!
It beat my MXT in a baseball field too! {The MXT will not work in my wet salt sand}
I wonder how this single freq F70 machine can gb out the wet salt, when not 1 other ever has been able to, in my area?

I can't tell you how they do it. But i can tell you that i have found that Fishers """ technology is amazing ''''' I just started a short time ago with Fisher detectors and they surprise the he!! out of me.

The old Fisher CZ 5 could detect wet salt sand also.

I will tell you this and i am not a tech. i am not a electrical engineer i don't get in to that kind of stuff. For if i did it would mess my mind up and i could not give you a answer that would seem sane to you. But as a man that uses detectors for so many years i can give you a honest and sane answer one you will understand and that i understand........ ....But i have been useing detectors for 30 some years. And i can take my Garrett GTI 1500 to wet salt sand and it will run as nice as my Sovereign does no matter what the tech's say . they tell me it will not work in wet salt but it does. I should know i use the 1500 in wet salt sand and in the surf. And i have been right behind a Sovereign and he missed a target that i got in the surf. But i am told it will not work in wet salt sand. But for me it runs quiet and smooth....

The CZ 5 like the rest of the Fisher CZ's is twin frequency so wet salt is no problem.

As for single frequency machines all pre motion discriminators worked on the wet sand the only problem being that you had to ground balance out the salt with the discrimination control. As this had to be set to a point where fairly large foil was discriminated out it didn't help with the finding of fine gold rings.

Motion machines don't in the main cope so well though the Wilson Coin and Relic did manage respectable depths in the salt.

Chuck that is good info to know. Which coil were you using?

After some results I saw last week on a fresh water beach I did a test with the Omega on small jewelry items and got a result different than I have seen with detectors in the past.

Most detectors give the greatest air test depth on rings when they are passed parallel to the coil. Pass them at an angle of 45 deg or more and the distance drops to 1/3 or less. The Omega does not seem to care what the angle of the ring is. I got a good response at pretty much the same air test distance the only difference being a softer audio response when on an angle.

I wonder, does the F70 do the same? Bet it does.

What prompted this test was that on my beach outing I got two tiny rings that were well down in the packed gravel layer. The chances of them laying "flat" in those conditions are slim to none.

I know this guy, I met him a few years ago. The first time I met him I asked what he uses and he said it was a GTI 1500 while looking at me like the cat that ate the canary, he does well..........real well
